After a career in education writing language text books and Open University course books, I discovered the freedom of writing fiction. No more set formats, just inspiration and imagination.  I love researching the historical context to my plots. Grafting fiction onto a factual background is a challenge and a source of fun. 

As a spin-off from having spent so long learning and teaching French and German, I distilled some of my tips and techniques into writing self-study language books.
